Full Time Position, Year Long Commitment
OakHeart, Center for Counseling, Mediation, and Consultation has an open position for a PostDoctoral Clinical Psychology Fellow for the 2020-2021 training year.
About Our Practice:
OakHeart is a values-based organization, offering high-quality evidence-based treatment, in a safe and confidential environment. We serve children, adolescents and adults primarily in the west/southwest suburbs of Chicago. We currently have 8 licensed clinicians on staff representing a variety of professions including social workers, counselors, and psychologists. Our training program follows a practitioner-scholar model and strives to provide outstanding training, supervision, and mentorship in a collegial and supportive training environment. The postdoctoral program will prepare fellows to meet the requirements for independent licensure.
The fellow will be trained in gold-standard cognitive-behavioral treatment (CBT) approaches such as Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) in the treatment of Anxiety Disorders and OCD and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD/Trauma. Further evidence-based training opportunities are provided for Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT). Clinicians with these types of specialty training are highly competitive on the job market and most communities are in high need of these services. Other training opportunities may include Adjustment Disorders,
Depression, Relationship Concerns/Divorce Recovery, Adult ADHD, LGBTQ Identity, Postpartum Anxiety/Depression, and consultation/mentorship in the treatment of Eating Disorders. Fellows can also obtain training in the business aspects of opening and running a private practice if they so choose. Additional time will be devoted to helping the fellow engage in professional development activities and prepare for the EPPP.
Applicants should be doctoral students in good standing from APA accredited PhD or PsyD programs in Clinical Psychology. Fellows must have successfully completed their pre-doctoral internships, dissertations, and received their doctoral degree, or be very close to receiving their doctoral degree, prior to the fellowships start date.
Preference will be given to students who are completing APA accredited internship programs, although this is not required. Ideal candidates will also have had some experience with CBT modalities. They must be interested in pursuing a career with at least some degree of specialty working with OCD, Anxiety Disorders, and or PTSD.
Also, while the postdoctoral position is for one year, preference will be given to applicants who express an interest in applying for a full-time clinical staff position at OakHeart following successful completion of postdoc.
Our Post-Doctoral Fellow will be required to complete the following while on fellowship:
- Work a 35-40 hour work week
- Complete approximately 22-26 hours of face-to-face clinical hours per week
- Attend a weekly group consultation meeting
- Participate in 2 hours of face-to-face supervision with 2 different identified supervisors
(additional mentorship may be available)
- Participate in any other mandatory meetings
- Work a minimum of 2 evenings a week OR 1 evening and part of a weekend day. Must also commit to working on Fridays
Ideal start date range is between June 1st to September 1st, although we can be flexible if needed.
