Professional Experience
I completed my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois Institute of Technology, with a specialization in Rehabilitation Psychology and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. I completed my internship at Hines Veteran’s Administration Hospital, and my post-doctor fellowship at Olympia Fields Regional Osteopathic Medical Center. I began my professional career as a Clinical Psychologist at RML Specialty Hospital, in Hinsdale, Illinois, a long-term acute care hospital helping patients and their families cope with chronic critical illness. I have worked at RML full-time for the past 25 years, and am presently our supervising psychologist, the Chair of our hospital’s medical ethics committee, and the administrator of our hospital’s research committee, the Institutional Review Board (IRB).
In addition to my full-time work at RML Specialty Hospital, I have worked in private practice for the past 26 years. Although I have a broad base of experience in treating general mental health concerns with adults, I have specialized training in helping patients cope with chronic pain, and other chronic medical conditions. I believe each individual has the capacity to make positive change, whether in lifestyle, thought or belief patterns, or how we respond to our most stressful times.

About Me
What are your professional and personal values?
I value openness, hard work, kindness, and empathy. I also appreciate a good sense of humor. My initial goal in meeting each new client is to establish a comfortable, trusting, rapport. The work done in therapy can be challenging, but it also requires a deep trust, and a belief that we are entering into a working relationship based on mutual respect, and a commitment to finding the right solutions to whatever challenges are being faced.
What are some of your favorite self-care activities?
Growing up in rural Minnesota, I have always had a great love for the outdoors. My favorite pastimes are fishing, hunting, camping, and playing golf. I am also an avid woodworker and enjoy having such a calming, creative outlet.
Why do you love being a mental health professional?
To me there can be no greater work than that of helping others. And to help them through anxiety, or depression, or grief, or pain, and whatever life has challenged them with, is the greatest help
you could ever hope to give.
