We are committed to offering evidence-based treatments within an evidence-based practice model. Some of these include, but are not limited to:
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Emotional-Focused Therapy (EFT)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
  • Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD
  • Panic Control Treatment (PCT) for Panic Disorder
  • Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)
  • Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE) for PTSD
  • Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI)
  • Behavioral Activation (BA)
  • Narrative Therapy (NT)
  • Behavioral Therapy (BT)
  • Interpersonal Therapy (IPT)
Additional therapies are integrated into our evidence-based approaches when appropriate.  It should be noted that, while evidence-based treatments are a tool to achieve symptom remission and improved outcomes, the heart and foundation of effective therapy rests upon the relationship established between a therapist and a client. We place a high value on respecting our clients, providing a safe and supportive space for growth, and emphasize the importance of placing the client's needs, values, and goals as an invaluable catalyst for change.

Counseling at OakHeart

Starting therapy requires the courage to turn inward and evaluate parts of the self that have been avoided, that provoke fear, and that you truly want to understand better, even though it may be difficult to tolerate at times.  Opening yourself up to the process offers healing, improved relationships, better coping, and learning how to regulate your emotions.  It involves a commitment to goals that you collaborate on with a trusted professional who will support, validate, and assist you in reaching those goals.  Counseling offers a space that is just for you and what you want to work on.

The relationship is the key component for change in any form of therapy. Whether it is the emotional connection, the teaching provided through psycho-education, or the guidance offered through shifting behaviors and increasing awareness, it is the relationship established in counseling that provides the mechanism for change.  At OakHeart, we believe in finding the right fit between therapist and client so that you can enter into a therapeutic relationship that allows you to talk about any aspect of your life, no matter how vulnerable it is.

Counseling at OakHeart provides a foundation of genuineness, empathy, confidentiality, and authenticity that promotes overall growth and transformation.  It is about learning how to successfully navigate through the wide range of life experiences that are part of the human condition. Thank you for considering us as part of your journey.
