Professional Experience
I completed a Bachelor of Arts degree at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN with a major in psychology and a minor in music. While at Concordia, I completed an honors research project focused on understanding and reducing stigma related to mental health status. I completed a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL. While at NIU, I worked in several graduate assistant positions, where I was able to indulge my love of a variety of professional activities: therapy, testing, research, and teaching. As a psychologist, I am a member of the American Psychological
Association, which helps me to keep up with the latest research and advocate for ethical, effective, and sustainable practices in the profession of psychology. As an experienced therapist I have worked with over 1000 clients in different settings, including a university clinic, community mental health centers, county jail, community hospital, individual private practice, and group private practice.

Specializations and Treatment Approach
I currently treat:
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD)
Generalized Anxiety Disorder (Worry)
Panic Disorder with or without Agoraphobia
Health Anxiety/Illness Anxiety Disorder
Specific Phobias

Posttraumatic Stress Disorder
I provide cognitive-behavioral therapy to address anxiety, depression, substance use, and other issues. I specialize in cognitive and exposure-based therapies (including exposure and response prevention) for anxiety disorders, OCD, and PTSD. I frequently incorporate mindfulness and acceptance-based therapy tools in addition to more traditional forms of cognitive therapy that focus on thoughts and beliefs. I work primarily with adults and couples. It is my goal to help people explore and stay connected with the things that are important to them, even in the midst of difficult times.

About Me
I would describe myself as an enthusiastic life-long learner. I became a therapist because I enjoy connecting with people and I am deeply committed to the notion that the wellbeing of all people is interconnected. I am fascinated by the link between brain functioning and human experience, and I have dedicated lots of effort to learning about habits, coping strategies, and treatments that can help make that experience healthy and rewarding. I am committed to understanding and incorporating the latest in research-supported treatments and coping strategies into my therapy practice.
My professional values include integrity, authenticity, balance, efficacy, courage, caring, reliability, transparency, creativity, and excellence.
In my free time I enjoy hiking, lifting weights, spending time with family and friends, singing, and playing piano and guitar. I recently joined the team of fosters for a local animal shelter and I look forward to my first foster assignment.
