Professional Experience
I received my Bachelor of Arts from the University of Illinois-Chicago. I worked in auto-insurance for several years but always felt that I was meant to do more for others. I returned back to school and went on to complete my Masters of Social Work at Aurora University. During this time, I completed internships with concentrations on case management and therapy.
I have obtained additional training in OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), anxiety, depression, dementia, and domestic violence. I do have a particular passion for working with the geriatric population or "those with more birthdays." My career has included working with Elder Care Services and as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with clients age 12 and up for Family Counseling Service. It was at Family Counseling Service where I led a program which provided therapy to seniors in the community, many of whom had difficulty coming into the office for an appointment, but still enjoyed having a face-to-face visit.

Specializations and Treatment Approach
I currently treat:
Anxiety
Depression
ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder)
Couples
Life Stressors/Relationship Concerns
Trauma
Grief/Loss/Bereavement
LGBTQ+ Support
Evidence-Based Practice Approaches that I utilize:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
Narrative Therapy
Solution Focused Therapy
I would describe my therapeutic approach as non-judgmental and focused using evidence-based practices that meet the client where they are at presently. This helps me to gain a better understanding of their behaviors or life situation and present stressors. I have an easy-going and interactive approach where I try to make the client as comfortable as possible. This allows for shifts in therapy as needed by providing a safe environment, which allows clients to be vulnerable, open, and honest.

About Me
What are your professional and personal values?
The values that are most important to me are honesty, trust, integrity, commitment, and being genuine. I am a clinician that you may find to be laid back and human, which helps clients to feel that I am a person just like them and we can work through anything together. I am able to adjust to what my client's needs are: serious, supportive, strength, but humor should not be forgotten, as therapy can be heavy. Together I can help you achieve your goals.
What are some of your favorite self-care activities?
Quickly after meeting me, you will learn I love sports, especially baseball. I not only watch professional sports, I play competitive baseball. I also am in the process of assembling an adult size train track with my childhood Lionel set. Additionally, I enjoy spending time with my wife Jennifer, my friends, and my two dogs Sophie and Peyton.
What is your favorite quote/some of your favorite quotes?
"You only fail when you stop trying" author unknown.
"Remember, tomorrow is promised to no one" Walter Payton #4 Chicago Bears
"Tough times go away, tough people do not" Walter Payton
Why do you love being a mental health professional?
I absolutely love being a mental health professional. It has connected me with individuals that I have had the privilege of helping through times of need. Each day is new and I continue to develop myself as a Clinical Social Worker.
