Biography
I completed my bachelor’s degree at Saint Louis University, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Theology. I spent a semester of college abroad in Rome through Loyola University Chicago. I came back to Chicago after undergrad and pursued my doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Adler School of Professional Psychology, receiving my master’s degree along the way. I have worked in many settings including: out-patient and in-patient substance abuse, senior living facilities, university counseling, and private practice.
I feel that my genuine approach to the therapeutic relationship and my willingness to challenge and engage individuals has helped me assist others in navigating life’s obstacles and improving functioning and quality of life. I approach each therapeutic alliance with openness, authenticity, and a willingness to utilize methods and tools from a variety of evidence-based practices depending on the needs of the individual. I work primarily with adults 18 years of age and older.
I am psychodynamic in orientation but I integrate tools and techniques from other approaches based on the needs of the individual. I utilize evidence-based practices from Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical and Behavioral Therapy. Mindfulness, assertiveness, communication, and boundary-setting are skills I have found to be helpful with a variety of presenting issues.
I have supplementary training in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and as a Cogmed Qualified Coach. I have professional affiliations with the National Register of Health Services Psychologists and Psi Chi, the National Honor Society in Psychology (Lifetime Member).
