Biography:
Life can be very challenging and scary at times. Sometimes it can feel as if you are walking through it alone, unsure of which direction to head. Therapy is a great place to find direction. In therapy, I believe in the value of a supportive, trusting relationship between myself and my clients. My goal, is to make sure my clients feel safe, comfortable, and understood. I feel that therapy is a partnership between therapist and client, working together while navigating through difficulties and struggles. I take pride in developing a strong relationship with my clients so that they feel confident in the treatment journey. I approach every situation with an open mind and strive to provide a judgement free atmosphere where clients can learn and grow.
In session, I focus on the present stressors or challenges and help the client develop the necessary tools and support systems to empower them to accomplish their goals. I follow the treatment approaches of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT) and Art Therapy (AT). Utilizing these treatment approaches, I have helped clients become successful in meeting their therapeutic goals. I received both my Bachelors and Masters in Social Work at Aurora University, and went on to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker soon after graduation. I have had the opportunity to provide clinical services in a variety of settings such as: inpatient hospitalization, residential treatment, medical facilities and crisis intervention in the community, which included homes and schools. Working in these settings has allowed me to gain experience treating a wide range of pathologies and issues.
My primary areas of specialty include depression, anxiety, identity issues/sexual identity issues, self-harm,and substance abuse. In addition, have recieved 40 hours of sexual assault training with the YWCA and served as a confidential advisor for college students who have experienced sexual assault. I am also passionate about helping the community and have experience speaking at seminars, schools, and mental health facilities providing education on current mental health issues and the appropriate treatment techniques.

I want to TALK about grief. Certain thoughts and feelings that I experienced in my journey through grief, really stand out to me. I want to take a moment to be very transparent and openly discuss the ways in which I felt I was impacted by grief. Some of the things that I have experienced are very difficult to talk about, let alone be honest about. I have felt guilt, shame and disgust in myself in regard to parts of my grief journey....(to read more, click on the link above)

It's a simple word that encompasses the idea of what it means to be an adult; what adult life is supposed to look like, and what adults actually do. It also describes all adult tasks, expectations, responsibilities, milestones, and behaviors typically experienced by adults...(to read more, click on the link above).
