Biography
Everyone is capable of improving their life and reaching their goals, but sometimes we need a little help. I aim to provide that help for my clients through support and guidance. As we work to achieve the client’s goals, the alliance between clinician and client is of the utmost importance to me. Although my primary therapeutic treatment approach is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I also incorporate aspects of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and distress tolerance training to best assist clients and their needs.
I received my BA from the University of South Florida in psychology with a minor in public health and earned my Masters Degree from Northern Illinois University (NIU). I am actively working towards my Doctorate at NIU. My research is on the impact of self-compassion on exposure treatment for posttraumatic stress. I also conduct research on various anxiety disorders, worry, and OCD.
Prior to my work at OakHeart, I provided individual therapy to both adolescents and adults in an outpatient and inpatient setting with a focus on individuals on OCD, PTSD, and anxiety issues. I have also provided group therapy services to children and adolescents in a private practice setting. In addition to my work at OakHeart, I have worked as a behavioral consultant for a long-term care facility for individuals with cognitive and developmental disabilities.
I have experience with clients presenting with:
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
Social Anxiety Disorder
Generalized Anxiety Disorder
Panic Disorder
Depression
Trauma/PTSD
Specific Phobias
Relationship Issues
